Branching Out In 2009!

I received an unexpected but exciting phone call this year from a very sweet woman who was interested in having me decorate her beautiful home for Christmas! Of course I immediately said YES. At 1st, things were moving along great and I was almost finished with the mantel when suddenly disaster struck...the center began to cave in on me and things were flying off left and right. So much for beginners luck right? I didn't think I'd be able to redeem myself and recreate what I had just created. Well, I think I succeeded and finished the job feeling pretty good. Thanks to the Myers family for trusting me with the job, hopefully they enjoyed the turnout as much as I did!

Anything Go's (2009)

I originally chose green and bronze for my tree colors this year. However, my visualization always seems to change when I begin the decorating process. I ended up adding a little cream, dark brown, yellow and even purple. I used purple and cream tulle (just couldn't live without it) and added 2 different kinds of fabric as well. I even ran across some cattails that were on clearance at Tai Pan and thought, what the h%$, let's give them a try. Hey, they look great! So, if you're ever out buying ornaments, ribbon or misc items for your Christmas tree and find yourself questioning whether or not things will match or flow together, my advice would be, DON'T. Even if it doesn't mesh in your mind, go for it anyway because sometimes, ANYTHING GO'S!!!

A Helping Hand (2008)

After putting the finishing touches on my tree I thought I'd drop by my mother in laws house to see how things were going with hers. In all my Christmas's spent with the Eskelson's, I can't recall a year when there house wasn't decked out to perfection for the holidays. Needless to say, my addiction took over and I helped her decorate anyway.

A Holiday Filled with Tradition (2008)

I can't seem to figure out how my collection of Christmas decor keeps growing and growing and growing. Have I bought MORE and MORE ornaments each year as they begin to go on sale? Have I UNCONSCIOUSLY bought them sale or no sale? Do I find myself in a daze WANDERING the holiday aisles 2 MONTHS before x- mas? Has my addiction for Christmas decor simply gotten way OUT OF CONTROL? The answer could definitely be ALL OF THE ABOVE!!! The good news is I now have the option to switch up my colors and do something different every year. With tradition on my mind I stuck with the good ole red and greens! I even added red and green tulle in place of ribbon or tree garland and it turned out really well. Who knew tulle could look so fabulous strung through your trees and/or garlands. P.S. It's also pretty in expensive if your looking to save a buck!

Festival of Trees 08

Our 1st experience at the Festival of Trees brought us so much joy that we decided to give it another go. Leaping across the color charts from last year, we chose a very bright, vibrant look and called it " All Things Beautiful". And Beautiful it was...

2007 Festival of Trees

Me, my mother in law (Yvonne) and sister in law (Jessi) decorated a tree for the Festival of Trees in rememberence of our sweet Chelsea. Chelsea is my sister in law who was killed in an auto accident in 2005. We call this tree "A Spirit for all Seasons". A tree filled with shimmery golds and browns. We love you forever Chels!!!

Let the festivities begin...

2007 was the beginning of my decorating addiction! I bought a 9', tall, skinny tree that I couldn't wait to decorate. Since I had a new tree, I just had to have NEW ornaments to go with it. It only seems reasonable right? Lets just say I made a DON'T TELL YOUR HUSBAND trip to the greatest store on earth, Tai Pan and the rest is history if you know what I mean!!!
